Yakushi-do Hall

It is unknown when the original Yakushi-do Hall was built, however, we can see a building which seems to be this hall in "Shikoku Henrei Meisho Zue(A Collection of Pictures of Shikoku Pilgrimage Sights)" published in 1800.
This building had an earthen floor in the beginning, and pilgrims who suffered from diseases stayed overnight in there, as a "Tsuya-do Hall."*
The present building was reconstructed during the Showa period(1926-1989).

*In Shikoku, Tsuya-do Hall often means a facility or a building where pilgrims can stay overnight.
