Buddhist Painting “Ryomen Daishi (Kukai on Both Sides)”
in the Inner Sanctuary of Daishi-do Hall

There are 2 framed paintings of Kobo Daishi(Kukai) in the form of hanging scrolls, enshrined in the inner sanctuary of Daishi-do Hall.
The one with the black background is "Kobo Daishi in the Night" and the other is "Kobo Daishi in the Day."
The originals of these hanging scrolls were handed down to this temple in the distant past, however, they are not in a good state of preservation now.
Therefore, this temple's Daisojo(a Buddhist priest of the highest order)Shunsho Manabe(1939-)painted new versions in recent years.
