2. Purification Trough (Chozuya)

Purification Trough (Chozuya)

The washbasin in Chozuya(a place for cleaning hands and rinsing your mouth for purification)is made of sandstone which was hollowed out into the shape of a basin was dedicated to the temple in 1822.
The spring water was drawn for the basin in the past, and the water was called "clam water" because its color was white and cloudy.
Right now, the water used for basin is tap water. However, sometimes the color of stream running down on the side of our temple turns white and cloudy, depending on the season.
